Iridium runs the satellite network that covers the whole planet from pole to pole. Iridium also certifies the avionics and trackers that use this network. As a reseller GIT Satellite Communications turns that network into a system for your aircraft. GIT Satellite Communications matches the hardware to your mission sets the airtime plan to match how you fly activates the system before it arrives and answers the phone when you need help on the ramp or in the air.

Why Buy Iridium Through GIT

Verified Iridium Reseller

Support From the Ground

Real people help you troubleshoot change plans and handle suspensions.

The Challenge

Radar and Cellular Coverage Stop Where Your Routes Start

Across oceans, polar routes, mountains and remote work sites aircraft fly where radar, VHF, ground‑based ADS‑B and cellular coverage are missing. HF voice becomes unreliable position reports stop and operators lose sight of crews right when conditions change. Meanwhile expectations for flight‑tracking and oceanic data link rules keep rising.. Gnss interference is now a common danger in many busy airspaces.

The Solution

L-Band That Stays With You From Takeoff to Landing

Iridiums low‑Earth‑orbit constellation covers the planet poles included, with quick and weather‑resistant L‑band links. GIT supplies the avionics, trackers, airtime and expertise to keep safety voice, data link, flight following and operational data moving from any point on your route.

  • Global coverage, pole to pole
  • Certified safety services: FANS data link and ATS safety voice
  • One partner for equipment, airtime and support

FAQ. AVIATION SATELLITE QUESTIONS, ANSWERED

Owners, operators and chief pilots often ask us these questions before they purchase.

Why buy Iridium through a reseller of directly?

Iridium sells its services through authorized partners. Because GIT is a reseller GIT provides the hardware, airtime plan, activation and daily support all in one package. That means one team is responsible for the system and you have a dedicated person who already knows your aircraft and its configuration.

Does my aircraft need an installation?

Cockpit systems that provide safety services, such as FANS data link or ATS safety voice are installed and approved by an avionics shop or MRO under the certification. Portable carry‑on trackers are usually not certified. We determine which route applies to your aircraft and work with your installer.

Can Iridium meet FANS and oceanic data link requirements?

Iridium supports FANS data link (CPDLC and ADS‑C) and ATS safety voice. Iridium Certus provides certified aviation safety services. The required services differ by airspace, operator and aircraft. Therefore we verify the needs of your routes before recommending a system.

What is the difference between an installed system and a portable tracker?

Installed systems are permanently fitted, use aircraft power and can provide safety services, voice and broadband data. Portable trackers sit on the glareshield can be moved between aircraft and focus on position reporting, messaging and SOS and they cost less.

Can Iridium support BVLOS drone operations?

Yes. Iridiums L‑band network can be used for command, control and payload data beyond line of sight. Operators remain responsible for their regulatory approvals. We help choose an airtime plan that fit the platforms size, weight and power budget.

Can I Change my airtime plan, between seasons?

Many operators. Agricultural, firefighting and tour fleets. Fly seasonally. Ask us about suspending or resizing plans so you pay for the flying you do.

How long does activation take?

Equipment ships provisioned and tested. Most portable devices are ready to fly upon arrival. Installed systems activate once your installer completes the fit.
