Security Information
The Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) Rijndael algorithm, approved as a replacement for the 1977 Data Encryption Standard (DES) by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) in 2002, provides state-of-the-art encryption for voice and data. General Dynamics' proprietary Automatic Public Key (APK) system generates and exchanges unique 128-bit session keys for every call
Users contact their GSM wireless network provider to subscribe to GSM service to activate their phone by ordering:
A primary voice phone number to place and receive regular wireless phone calls
A second phone number for secure encrypted phone calls using 9600 BPS asynchronous transparent circuit switched data service, with mobile originate (MO) and mobile terminate (MT).
Encryption
General Dynamics uses the 128-bit Rijndael Advanced Encryption Standard algorithm to provide end-to-end encryption for user voice and data traffic. Unique traffic keys are established for each call and these keys are created and exchanged using General Dynamics’ Automatic Public Key (APK) system. APK uses standard P-224 Elliptic Curve Cryptography which is defined in FIPS 186-2 (superceded by FIPS 186-3 in 2009, found here) and provides a cryptographic strength exceeding that of 2048-bit RSA.
