The TalkSECURE Digital terminal provides end-to-end voice and data security for satellite communications for high assurance secure communications in remote areas where terrestrial communications are not available. TalkSECURE Digital complements the Sectéra portfolio of secure interoperable wireless and wireline products, providing voice and data encryption for government, business and international users over a multitude of digital circuits.
The initial release provides secure communications for Iridium Satellite Solutions®,which provide the only two-way coverage that includes the world’s oceans and Polar Regions. TalkSECURE Digital connects to a Motorola 9505 Iridium portable satellite phone providing global mobility and FNBDT (Future Narrow Band Digital Terminal) security over the Iridium constellation.
The software programmable interface allows for future secure digital applications, such as:
Inmarsat, SHF/EHF or other satellite communication systems
Digital Trunks.
Note: In order to send an encrypted call, both the caller and the receiver must have one of the TalkSECURE products.
Benefits
Can be used as either an analog or digital encryptor for both voice and data
TalkSECURE Digital implements the Advanced Encryption Standard (AES), approved as a replacement for the 1977 Data Encryption Standard (DES) by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) in 2002, to protect sensitive and confidential communications
Incorporates the Sectéra Architecture with FNBDT signaling for secure wireless and wire-line interoperability
High quality voice for secure and clear calls
Secure interoperability with TalkSECURE™Wireless and Wireline products for SBU (sensitive but unclassified) and Homeland Security applications
Secure interoperability with Sectéra Type 1 Wireless and Wireline products
Features
Software programmable and software upgradeable to incorporate the latest enhancements
Small, portable, compact and lightweight
Security/Authentication display and voice prompts assist with security set up
Interoperable Security Architecture
Key to the success of the TalkSECURE Terminals is the Sectéra® Interoperable Security Architecture upon which it is built. The Sectéra architecture provides the following key benefits:
Secure interoperability with TalkSECURE Wireless and Wireline products
Secure interoperability with Sectéra Wireless and Wireline products designed to protect U.S. Government classified communications
Fully Software Programmable Key Generation with Software Update Capability
Encryption
General Dynamics uses the 128-bit Rijndael Advanced Encryption Standard algorithm to provide end-to-end encryption for user voice and data traffic. Unique traffic keys are established for each call and these keys are created and exchanged using General Dynamics’ Automatic Public Key (APK) system. APK uses standard P-224 Elliptic Curve Cryptography which is defined in FIPS 186-2 (superceded by FIPS 186-3 in 2009, found here) and provides a cryptographic strength exceeding that of 2048-bit RSA.
