The Inmarsat BGAN service offers:

• Global coverage BGAN is accessible worldwide. This service delivers voice and broadband data connectivity to users wherever they are on the planet.


• Easy to use BGAN is designed for simplicity and ease of use. No specialist technical expertise is required to set up and use it. It’s easy to manage costs, because you can track service usage and charges in real-time. The same device may be used worldwide and the user interface is standard across all terminals. And there are never any compatibility issues with local telecoms networks, because the terminals connect directly to the Inmarsat BGAN satellite network

• Highly compact BGAN terminals are compact and lightweight. They can be carried as easily as a laptop, with the smallest weighing less than one kilogram. Vehicular systems are equally compact with a discreet tracking antenna for the car roof and an interior transceiver, delivering communications on-the-move.

• Simultaneous voice and broadband data With a single BGAN device, the terminal can access data applications at speeds up to half a megabit while a phone call in in progress, at the same time. In a world-first for mobile services, you can also select guaranteed data rates on demand, with a choice of speeds to suit specific application requirements.

The Inmarsat BGAN service supports:

• Standard IP For email, internet and intranet access via a secure VPN connection, at speeds up to 492kbps over a shared channel.

• Streaming IP Guaranteed data on demand at rates in excess of 384kbps. Choose the data rate on a case-by-case basis, depending on a specific application. Also supports ISDN at 64kbps.

• Phone Make phone calls while accessing data applications. Voicemail and other standard 3G mobile supplementary services are also available.

• Text Send and receive text messages via a laptop – up to 160 characters – to or from any mobile phone.
